More than awareness, Trans South Dakotans need allies and mobilization.

For years, Trans South Dakotans and their families have faced endless uncertainty and political abuse from lawmakers with proposed policies like House Bill 1008 in 2016 and House Bill 1076 in 2021.

Luckily, these policies were defeated. Yet, we anticipate more bills like these in 2022 and need your help fighting back.

These proposed bills and negative rhetoric are exactly why it is on all of us to not only raise awareness of our trans peers and their stories, but fight ferociously for their right to live and thrive in this great state.

Join us for the fight ahead.

So what is Trans Awareness Week exactly? Transgender Awareness Week is a week when transgender people and their allies take action to bring attention to the community by educating the public about who transgender people are, sharing stories and experiences, and advancing advocacy around the issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that affect the transgender community.
