Yet another way Equality South Dakota is raising the bar is through the use of technology. This website is equipped with multiple channels of RSS feeds, featuring content from various parts of our site.
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication," and is a modern-day version of having the newspaper brought to your doorstep. Sites like this one for Equality South Dakota, use RSS as a means of public distribution for the news that they publish on their web site. RSS uses an HTML-like format called XML to distribute the information in a simple, organized and standardized way.
Because RSS is standardized, content from a variety of sources can be identically displayed in a single location, using a piece of software called an aggregator. There are many programs available that can display RSS, such as the e-mail and news feed program, Mozilla Firebird, though there are a growing number of online aggregators, such as Yahoo, Bloglines and Google homepages.
