Same-sex couples in Washington, D.C., arrived at the superior court this morning to apply for marriage licenses and certificates on the first day of eligibility.
According to The Washington Post, about 11 couples had gathered outside the court building by 7 a.m. Wednesday in chilly weather with a light rain, with the crowd growing to around 45 couples when the marriage bureau office opened at 8:30 a.m. Couples were handed numbered tickets to indicate their place in line.
