Get Involved

EqSD needs every South Dakotan who believes in equality to step up and take an active role. We want to put our collective energy into creating positive change and improving the quality of life in our state.

There are a variety of ways to get involved.  

During 2008 we plan to contact every elected official in South Dakota who holds a statewide or federal office, including leaders of Tribal Councils, to give a human face to our organization and tell our story using many voices. We believe this will lay a positive foundation for future discourse. To make hundreds of individual visits, it will take hundreds of us.

We've also set the ambitious goal of signing up 5,000 members this year—to receive information alerts and to help make our voice strong. This will require that we reach out far and wide into our friendship and professional circles, faith networks and neighborhoods.  

Whatever your background, interest or skill, there is a place for you.

We need the following. Take your pick:

• Help sign up members
• Host a house party
• Register to make an EqSD into visit to your legislator
• Sign up to register voters
• Help us with research
• Be a web site monitor
• Prepare issue briefs
• Submit your story to our bank of stories
• Help with letter writing and phone banking
